System Restore

On Windows operating systems, System Restore is a feature that restores your computer to a point where it is working fine. System Restore uses the last restore point made as its reference.


Disabling System Protection on Windows 7

  1. ClickStart.
  2. Right-clickMy Computerthen clickProperties.
  3. Click theSystem Protectiontab.
  4. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  5. ClickConfigure....
  6. Choose "Turn off System Restore".
  7. ClickApplythenYes, and thenOK.

  8. ClickOKto exit the window.


Enabling System Protection on Windows 7.

  1. ClickStart.
  2. Right-clickMy Computerthen clickProperties.
  3. Click theSystem Protectiontab.
  4. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  5. ClickConfigure....
  6. Choose "Restore system settings and previous versions of files" then clickOK.

  7. ClickOKto exit the window.


Disabling System Protection on Windows 8 and 8.1

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + X and select System.
  2. Click theSystem Protectiontab.
  3. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  4. ClickConfigure....
  5. Choose "Disable system protection".

  6. ClickApplythenYes, and thenOK.


Enabling System Protection on Windows 8 and 8.1

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key + X and select System.
  2. Click theSystem Protectiontab.
  3. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  4. ClickConfigure....
  5. Choose "Turn on system protection".

  6. ClickApplythenYes, and thenOK.

    1. Open Start.
    2. Search for "PC", right-click on "This PC", and click Properties.



  1. Click theSystem Protectiontab.
  2. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  3. ClickConfigure....
  4. Choose "Disable system protection".

  5. ClickApplythenYes, and thenOK.


Enabling System Protection on Windows 10

    1. Open Start.
    2. Search for "PC", right-click on "This PC", and click Properties.

  2. In the list underAvailable Drives, choose a drive.

  3. ClickConfigure....
  4. Choose "Enable system protection".

  5. ClickApplythenYes, and thenOK.
