This is the latest CARBANAK variant reportedly related to the compromised Microsoft Windows client. CARBANAK is a malware family that hits banks and financial organizations.

This backdoor may be dropped by other malware.
It executes commands from a remote malicious user, effectively compromising the affected system. It connects to a website to send and receive information.
It deletes itself after execution.

Step 2
Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.
Step 3
Remove the malware/grayware file that dropped/downloaded BKDR_CARBANAK.B. (Note: Please skip this step if the threat(s) listed below have already been removed.)
- If the preceding step requires you to restart in safe mode, you may proceed to edit the system registry.
- In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
To delete the registry key this malware/grayware/spyware created:
- Restart your computer in Safe Mode. For instructions on how to do this, you may refer to this page. If the preceding step requires you to restart in safe mode, you may proceed to #2.
- Open Registry Editor. To do this:
» For Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 users, click Start>Run, type regedit in the text box provided, and then press Enter.
» For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 users, click the Start button, type regedit in the Search input field then press Enter.
» For Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 users, right-click on the lower left corner of the screen, click Run, type regedit in the text box provided, and then press Enter. - In the left panel of the Registry Editor window, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>ControlSet001>Services - Still in the left panel, locate and delete the key:
{random service name}Sys - Close Registry Editor.

Search and delete this folder

To delete the malware/grayware folder:
- Right-click Start then click Search... or Find..., depending on the version of Windows you are running.
- In the Named input box, type:

- In the Look In drop-down list, select My Computer, then press Enter.
- Once located, select the folder then press SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete the folder.

To delete malware/grayware files:
For Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003:
- Right-click Start then click Search....
- In the File name* input box, type

- %System%\Com\svchost.exe
- In the Look In drop-down list, select My Computer then press Enter.
- Once located, select the file then press SHIFT+DELETE to delete it.
- Repeat the said steps for all files listed.
*Note: The file name input box title varies depending on the Windows version (e.g. Search for files or folders named or All or part of the file name.).
For Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012:
- Open a Windows Explorer window.
- For Windows Vista, 7, and Server 2008 users, click Start>Computer.
- For Windows 8, 8.1, and Server 2012 users, right-click on the lower left corner of the screen, then click File Explorer.
- In the Search Computer/This PC input box, type:
- %All Users Profile%\Application Data\Mozilla\AgpNWwQJbVpfCANZVw.bin
- %System%\Com\svchost.exe
- Once located, select the file then press SHIFT+DELETE to delete it.
- Repeat the said steps for all files listed.
*Note: Read the if these steps do not work on Windows 7.
Step 8
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your live casino online product for files detected as BKDR_CARBANAK.B. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your live casino online product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
